If it seems that kitsch of this kind is a less than ideal way to teach history, it's still infinitely preferable to Reagan's Bitburg pieties. Go to Full Review

There are moments here where the movie seems to believe Hitler was bad, not because he mapped genocidal madness, but because he wouldn't let the Swing Kids dance all night. Go to Full Review

A film that, in the end, stands as the best overall quality of the proposal. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Despite the film's overall ridiculousness, however, the choreography and music by Cab Calloway and Django Reinhardt is brilliant. Go to Full Review

Like the films of the '30s and '40s it pays homage to, this portrait of jazz-crazy teenagers in Nazi Germany brims with the passion and anguish of free spirits caught in a crushing world they never made. Go to Full Review

Hermione R Mar 9, 2019 Thi is pne of the finest movies I have ever seen. One of the only movies ever to deal with the main themes in a way that wasn't black & white. It shows how totalitarianism takes root, and how easily it can happen to good people and a society ripe for the picking. See more
Theodore G Jun 28, 2017 I'm surprised this movie has such mediocre reviews. I find this movie lovely, but somewhat sad. Over all very touching.
Finn R May 24, 2017 What a waste of an hour and 15 minutes
Poe L Jan 4, 2017 Reading the top critics, one would think that they only watched the first 20 minutes and abandoned the film out of high dudgeon. The main criticism seems to have been that these "kids" were too flippant and self-absorbed that they barely cared at all about what was happening around them. Well, they must have seen a different film from the one here, because the main characters are anything but flippant, trying to get a grip on what is happening in their midst without losing themselves completely to facility and pragmatism. Each finds his own way after hesitating at the beginning, but "swing" is simply a metaphor for freedom. And he message here is that even if one loses the "war" against the Nazis, if one keeps one's integrity, then all is not lost. Not a bad message in our times, with Brexit and Trump and populism on the rise once again. This film has a lot to say for itself, and Robert Sean Leonard gives a beautifully rich performance which is well worth the price of admission. Everyone is remarkably good, in fact, and I would recommend this film highly. See more
Han M Aug 2, 2012 I attempted swing dancing in the streets yesterday. I wanted to yell "Swing Heil" so badly. This movie was so fucking bad I had to go back type this. See more
