As clunky as the movie can feel, there's a winning toughness to its unsentimental view of childhood and its nostalgia for a pre-digital age. Go to Full Review

Where the film really takes wing is when the Swallows and Amazons are trying to steal each other's boats, making expeditions by moonlight or are planning just what they're going to eat after dropping their provisions in the lake. Go to Full Review

Despite an incongruous action sequence on the roof of a puttering steam train and a beefed-up espionage plot, the thrills here are reassuringly low-key. Go to Full Review

Kids might enjoy seeing the freedom the siblings experience in this movie version of Swallows and Amazons, as they sail to an island and set up camp without any adult supervision. Go to Full Review

Poe M Sep 21, 2018 I loved this show. Great family movie :)
Anakin G Aug 22, 2018 A pale imitation of the book. Not the best film version.
Aug 20, 2018 Saw it for the first time on tv yesterday, awful, never want to see it again. Loved the books, loved the 1973 version. A.R. will be spinning in his hammock. Your top critic reviewers must have been paid to say what they did or have no taste or understanding of the original story. Thanks to Mr. Ransome I DID mean to go to sea! See more
Kylo W Apr 12, 2018 A wonderful heartwarming film.Wonderful cast, outstand to be honest. Warm, enjoyable and touching. An absolute please to watch See more
Feb 19, 2018 What a shocker of a film. Dancing loosely around the material of original book - which worked perfectly well for generations of avid Ransome fans - these woefully miscast kids bicker woodenly through this clumsily 'enhanced ' plot. What a mess See more
Kylo S Feb 8, 2018 Interesting cinematography but terrible plot. They've taken a much-loved book and changed some of the characters and their behaviours to fit in with modern identity politics rubbish, and added a ridiculous spy subplot. If you want a film with the charm of the book, buy the 1973 version which is really very good and leave this charmless pile on the shelf. See more
