What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's uneven and occasionally somewhat aimless, but Starsky & Hutch benefits from Stiller and Wilson's chemistry and a surprisingly warm-hearted script.

Stiller and Wilson are still hilarious as the supercool detectives–there hasn't been a comedy duo this good since John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. Go to Full Review

Snoop Dogg, as a superfly snitch, and Vince Vaughn, as a drug lord, are wasted in obvious supporting roles. It's harmless fun--and too lazy to be more. Go to Full Review

At a time when the Hollywood studios seem locked in a competition to see who can make and distribute the most witless spoofs, pastiches and tributes, along comes one that is genuinely funny. Go to Full Review

Amiable enough, and there are a couple of genuinely hilarious moments. But guys as smart and witty as Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are just wasting themselves on ’70s TV nostalgia. Go to Full Review

Albus R Feb 25, 2019 With a plot that barely hangs on, "Starsky & Hutch" mostly benefits from the charming chemistry between its two leads with enough jokes to give these recycled '70s TV show characters an entertaining reboot. See more
Luke L Jan 1, 2019 Fun and overly stupid, Starsky and Hutch has enough dumb characters and inappropriate humor to keep you entertained See more
Han S Nov 11, 2018 Considering the talent behind and in front of the camera, it is somewhat of a letdown. Stiller has a hit and miss ratio with comedy unlike Wilson who tends to shine in everything he touches. The biggest problem is the inconsistent tone that tries so hard to be one thing but then expects you to switch over into the story beats. They were probably better off turning this into a full blown comedy without the series tone, it doesn't work that well and robs the film audience of the talented stars. This is not one of the better shows turned to tv films out there but it isn't the worse, see Dukes of Hazard and Lost in Space for that honour. 10/11/2018. See more
Ron S Aug 14, 2018 Starsky and Hutch is a great remake of an older television show. This is a frat pack movie and most of them are here. Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller play the titular character and although not over the top funny they are a good mixture of drama and goofy fun. The cameo from Will Ferrell is a highlight and Vince Vaughn is great as the bad guy. This was made at the height of the team's output. This is a great Sunday evening movie. See more
