In Spring, though, the MacGuffin hijacks the film. Its "mystery" element is also its weakness. Go to Full Review

It's a film whose individual parts are perhaps more impressive than the whole, with innovative drone-cam shots, some special effects work which recalls John Carpenter's The Thing and two very committed and empathetic lead performances. Go to Full Review

A bit like a cross between Before Sunrise and An American Werewolf in London but nowhere near as good as either. Go to Full Review

A "romantic body horror film," a genre it likely inhabits alone, but what really makes it stick out is that we meet Louise...centuries, into living her life as this different type of human...self-assured, knowing exactly what is going on with her body. Go to Full Review

It's really unique, it kind of has its own sub-genre and I really recommend it to everybody. Go to Full Review

Genre elements swirl around them - part fantasy, part science fiction - but the core of the film is something more complex, effective, and worthwhile. Go to Full Review

Mar 2, 2019 All I can do is quote Wilner: "Don't read anything else. Just see it. Spring is special."
Theodore L Feb 15, 2019 This genre isn't generally my cup of tea, but when wife wants to watch a horror/romance/science fiction film, you don't say no. It's an entertaining unique vision from the filmmaking duo of Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson who were involved with most every aspect of the film. There are a lot of laughs in the first act, but when the movie develops into more of a sci-fi flick it loses steam. The actors and the filmmakers are all talents to watch. It surely deserved a better fate than $30,000 at the box office. Wife 7.2/Husband 6.8... Final Average Score: 7.0 See more
Rey S Jan 29, 2019 So amazing. A bit ridiculous at times but still has you thinking "WTF!!!", has you feeling SHOOK. I love how there are realistic themes to this that make it relatable. The characters are so lovable . The concept is original. I can't believe it took me so long to see this. See more
Harry P Nov 8, 2018 Just wonderful. Horror and romance woven into a perfect little story.
Nov 3, 2018 I loved it. It is a beautiful balance of Drama, Horror, and romance that is often attempted but never executed. I really enjoyed the rawness of the characters as well. See more
Kylo S Oct 21, 2018 Beautifully shot, making great use of the Italian surroundings is just one thing 'Spring' does nicely, but what makes is so interesting is how well it manages to bring together an unusual blend of genres - horror and romance. The thing that'll keep you watching, though, is its ability to maintain the mystery surrounding the girl and keep you guessing as to what exactly is going on. The scenes that fall into the horror category are surprisingly well done, especially considering they must have been working with a fairly low budget, but make no mistake, this is much more a romance with a horror twist than it is a straight-up horror film. Maybe that puts you off, maybe it makes it more interesting to you - either way, that's how it is. It's not perfect and there are times where it feels slow, as if they get a bit lost and start dragging out scenes with little point to them for no reason at all, but overall, the genuine characters and realistic dialogue (which has a nice bit of humour to it, too); the believable chemistry between the two leads; and finding out how the mystery will ultimately end are enough to overcome any flaws, even if the ending itself probably won't appeal to everyone.
