In this feature film based on the hit animated series, the third-graders of South Park sneak into an R-rated film by ultra-vulgar Canadian television personalities Terrance (Matt Stone) and Phillip (Trey Parker), and emerge with expanded vocabularies that leave their parents and teachers scandalized. When outraged Americans try to censor the film, the controversy becomes a call to war with Canada, and Terrance and Phillip end up on death row -- with only the kids left to save them.

Critics Consensus

Its jokes are profoundly bold and rude but incredibly funny at the same time.

Entertaining raunchfest; not for kids.

[An] inspired, self-referential animated musical.

Genuinely outrageous and sometimes hilarious -- but size does eventually matter, and all-rounder Trey Parker just can't keep it up for the full 81 minutes.

As expected, the movie is crude in both look and content, but it does make some salient (and perennially relevant) points about the dangers of censorship and the responsibilities that come with freedom of choice.

The South Park film also broadened my understanding of what musicals can be. It’s not a genre that can tell only one type of story. It can tell any type of story and, when it’s as smart and beautiful as South Park, it can be magic.

Parker and Stone have made a career out of being decent animators, decent writers, and equal-opportunity offenders.

Not gonna lie, this was a pretty good movie. After watching it, I just felt like they could've snuck it a few more jokes. I don't know, but this made me crack up a few times.

Really funny and important, just like the show. The message is very mature.

Arguably more relevant today than at its release, South Park is as biting, hilarious, and offensive as ever and I love every moment of it.

Having been a South Park for a while now this movie does not fail to make me laugh. Matt Stone and Trey Parker push as many edges as they can in this movie. It basically is just an 80 minute episode of the show.

Love this movie, but would like to see them make more. Especially now.
