A cartoonist and family man, Tim Avery (Jamie Kennedy) lives a peaceful existence with his wife, Tonya (Traylor Howard), as well as their infant son and dog. When the curious canine finds a mask with mystical properties, both dog and baby create chaos with its powers. While Tim and Tonya try to contain the damage, the sly Norse god Loki (Alan Cumming) comes looking for the artifact, resulting in more mishaps that ultimately incur the wrath of the deity's powerful father, Odin (Bob Hoskins).

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Overly frantic, painfully unfunny, and sorely missing the presence of Jim Carrey.

Luke R Mar 30, 2019 Sadly, for this continuation of the 1994 classic, this new take on the slapstick character forgets the essence, humor and appeal that made the original the film we all remember and love, instead, it replaces the great elements with forgettable and odd plot, cartoonish but mediocre special effects, and a downright unbearable approach to a unique and extravagant comic book character, but whichever the issue with the film might be, it wonï¿ 1/2(TM)t escape to its urgent need for Jim Carreyï¿ 1/2(TM)s comeback. Draco R Mar 11, 2019 The worst movie i ever see. The only merit of the movie is the best teenage coreography of "can't take my eyes off of you". The best joke, the baby dancing "chin chiki boom". The worst joke, the rest of the movie. See more
Anakin M Feb 24, 2019 It was clear that Jamie Kennedy did this for the money and to boost his movie career like the first Mask movie did for Jim Carrey but Son of the Mask was a high budget unfunny comedy that would give little kids nightmares for the rest of their lives. I read an interview with Jamie Kennedy saying he met Jim Carrey at the Teen Choice Awards and he knew about the movie and was cool with it being made and gave Jamie Kennedy motivation about the movie. I guarantee Jim Carrey laughs at the horrible execution it turned into kind of like how Arnold Schwarzenegger laughs at Sylvester Stallone starring in Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot or like how Matthew Perry laughs at Matt LeBlanc starring in the monkey baseball movie Ed. Kylo G Feb 3, 2019 This is the WORST movie EVER now why would mess up such a masterpiece on the 1st one smh
Ron G Feb 3, 2019 I havent seen it, and refuse to watch it.
Poe S Dec 26, 2018 A shameless grab of title name as this is a complete stinker that doesn't deserve to be mentioned along Jim Carrey's The Mask. This film has spoilt the whole idea of 'The Mask'. Mask mode? A baby flying around in a room? My little brother who is seven didn't even laugh, and he is into these childish movies, but this was worse. A load of crap. It is a waste of money and a waste of time. Instead watch 'The Mask', but do not, I repeat do NOT, watch this hunk of junk. See more
