In a sun-scorched post-apocalyptic world largely bereft of water, a group of youthful orphans, including Jason (Jason Patric) and Terra (Jami Gertz), spend their time playing a hard-hitting hockey-like game and defying an authority known as "the Protectorate." When Daniel (Lukas Haas), one of the younger orphans, discovers a strange sphere, it leads to a struggle between good and evil after the scheming Darstar (Adrian Pasdar) swipes the powerful orb.

Since the movie so clearly required great dedication, especially in its visual effects and the use of its desert locations, I can only wonder why they didn't spend equal effort on finding an original story to tell. Go to Full Review

"Solarbabies" is a hilariously bad movie that doesn't make much sense and isn't much good when it does. Go to Full Review

The abundance of unintentional laughs doesn’t help the cause, especially when it comes to combating the likes of an evil robot – hilariously programmed to take pleasure in its savage assignments. Go to Full Review

Hagrid M Sep 8, 2018 All of the 1980's fantasy cliches are here and none of them work.
Leia W Mar 22, 2018 I can't believe how badly this has been panned! Come on guys! This was great in the 80s. It was one of my favorite movies. My sister and I watched the VHS so many times that we burned it out! For the time, the computer graphics were amazing. See more
Sep 7, 2017 My thing with this movie is that it came out in the wrong generation. Not many people back then liked futuristic movies. But now if this movie was recreated and came out again today I could guarantee the movie would do better now than back in the 80s See more
Abraham P Sep 4, 2017 There was way too much sexual tension between the villains in this movie.
Luke W Aug 11, 2017 This movie must be watched for exactly one reason : it's excellent MST3K fodder! Get this plot : Roller skating teen orphans battle dune buggy driving water-hoarder Nazis for possession of an alien bowling ball. It's Mad Max squashed up against ET and The Mighty Ducks! See more
Ron R May 6, 2017 In a dystopian future, kids on roller skates escape from a desert orphan camp to follow a glowing alien orb on a quest to free the water. Did I mention that the skates have lights? See more
