What to Know

Critics Consensus

Woody Allen rises from his recent slump with Small Time Crooks. A simple, funny movie, Crooks proves Allen still has the touch that made his name synonymous with off-beat comedy.

This is an amiable and quite conventional comedy. The biggest problem is that it's not all that funny. The whole movie, with its rather antiquated notions of the lower classes, feels as if it were inspired by another era. Go to Full Review

Han W Dec 20, 2017 A great movie from Allen. A beautiful tribute to the Italian classic I soliti ignoti.
Kylo S Oct 31, 2017 Nice lil' Quirky Mystery from Woody.
Hagrid W Oct 27, 2017 #woodyallenretro Podcast Project Good idea turned completely dry... the initial idea with a goofy heist takes a turn for the disappointing focusing on the desires of reaching socialite status for one character halfway to the end... what a waste - waste of good cast and initial idea and just falls flat and predictable by the very end, we didn't remember this being such a wash in the past but now this just doesn't stand up to allens other films, disappointed majorly See more
