What to Know

Critics Consensus

A middling sci-fi entry, Skyline offers proof that solid special effects alone cannot overcome a flat storyline filled with uninspired dialogue.

It’s low-budget fare that, much like the aliens in the movie, disguises itself with glimmering blue surfaces if only to slowly suck your brains out. Go to Full Review

The human characters are generally so dumb that one wonders why the aliens are so keen to collect their brains. Go to Full Review

Draco P Feb 7, 2019 A typical beginning with party people no one has any reason to care about. Then gruesomely monstrous aliens show up and it's not so bad. Then a crazy ending, but nothing can save the movie from being devoid of a story. See more
Luke M Feb 3, 2019 An unmotivated sci-fi flick. After a late night party, a group of friends is awakened in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window. Like moths to a flame, people outside are being drawn to strange lights, which have descended upon Los Angeles, and then suddenly vanishing into the air. Survivors must fight for their lives as the extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. Is it weird that I've watched this film like 3 times? Is it even weirder that there's a sequel to this film? Well I hadn't watched it in years but I saw that Netflix put it back in their lineup, so I decided it'd be nice if I could review this film - especially since I heard the sequel was interesting. Anyways...yeah. The screenplay - don't even get me started on the screenplay behind this film. It's just not good. The dialogue is cringe worthy, the stakes feel non-existent, the characters are bland and unlikable, the setting is uninteresting, everything is just lackluster. In terms of execution, this film was just bland. Look, there's no real point in going through and dissecting every detail in this film. However, one thing this film DID do well was world building. Yeah, kinda weird right? This film did manage to set up a world where this scenario exists and it's actually kind of interesting. God knows it wasn't executed well but it wasn't too shabby. There's a world within this film that could be really interesting, but it's not. In the end, I really don't want to spend time or effort dissecting this. It was a mess. It was a Grade-B sci-fi film that did not execute well. Anyways, let's see how the sequel goes! See more
Draco P Jan 26, 2019 Bad movie with no context
Draco R Jan 22, 2019 Terrible film, stilted dialog, ridiculous decisions ("let's go to the top [of the building] that's the safest place I can think of.") stupid fights. Great creepy aliens though, and wow special effects. See more
Hagrid S Jan 21, 2019 the only good thing about this movie is that everyone dies
Leia L Jan 15, 2019 Was rooting for the aliens; Donald Faison humor would have went a long way; Scottie Thompson is superb but cannot save the silly film See more
