Brothers Kenny (Marlon Wayans) and Antoine Tyler (Kadeem Hardison) have always wanted to be basketball heroes, standing out as child athletes and now as college players at the University of Washington. But tragedy strikes during a game, when Kenny, the superstar of the family, sustains a fatal heart attack while playing. Presumably The Sixth Man is intended to appeal to basketball fans. Is there a basketball fan alive who could fall for this premise? I'm not talking about the ghost -- that's easy to believe. I'm talking about the details of the game. Go to Full Review

This clumsy combo of cloying family drama and fantasy-enhanced courtside clowning is designed to draw tears and cheers. But jeers are more likely ... Go to Full Review

Oct 16, 2017 This movie is amazing. I cried, I laughed, and ultimately fell in love with the whole team. The character development was pristine. The Wayans Brother at their best, a true classic. See more
Han S Mar 14, 2017 Guys let's real talk for a second. This movie isn't good. It's about time for the NCAA basketball tournament and I was revisiting some of the movies from the past decades that featured college basketball, so naturally I had to check out The Sixth Man again. I'll start with a few positives. Marlon Wayans actually gives an inspired performance here. The scene in the gym after the passing of Antoine when he is looking up at the rafters had me choked up. I bought their relationship even in the little time it was shown on screen. In addition to that, I think this movie has a pretty strong first act, basically up until Antoine reveals himself to the rest of the team outside of Kenny. Now let's get it over with...the negatives. Tonally this movie is all over the place. I've dated crazy chicks that made more sense (yes I'm talking to you Karen!). At times it is a Wayans brother slapstick comedy in the vein of Scary Movie 4. At other times it is a heartfelt drama about family, and grieving over the loss of a loved one. Every player on the Huskies with the exception of the Tyler's is an absolute caricature of a human being. Lastly, the Serbian center was not even close to being a seven footer. Dude was like 6'4" and over 260lbs easily. In summation, this is a movie I sat through, and was mildly let down by. Didn't have high expectations so it's not crushing to me that it was jumbled up. It's definitely not Marlon Wayans worst movie, but has few redeeming qualities after the first 20 mins. If you're drinking with some friends go ahead and watch like half of it before the bars. George M Jan 27, 2017 This wasn't that bad, but it's not as hilarious as I remembered it to be.
