When their parents decide to sell their home, siblings Maura (Amy Poehler) and Kate (Tina Fey) learn that they have one weekend to clean out the junk from their old bedroom. Unhappy with the news, the recently divorced Maura and her hotheaded sister make plans to throw one final bash to recapture their glory days with their former classmates. As the raging party begins to spiral out of control, the gals soon realize that there may not be a house left once the dust settles.

Critics Consensus

Sisters' sharp blend of pathos and vulgarity, along with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's effervescent chemistry, are more than enough to make up for the handful of laughs this coming-of-age comedy leaves on the table.

Whether or not Sisters is the best use of Fey's or Poehler's gifts is beside the point; they're entitled to blow off the same dopey steam that propels the likes of Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner in all those Fockers movies.

Pell's script, inspired in no small way by her own relationship with her own sister, is so smart, so genuine, as crazy as things might get the human saga at the center remains pure and realistically heartfelt no matter what.

Is Sisters a good movie? No. No, it is not. Its plot manages to be both jarring (so many twists!) and predictable; its supporting characters are thin; it makes gleeful use of tired stereotypes.

Even a go-for-broke, R-rated potty-mouthed jolt from two of our favorite, and normally buttoned-up, comediennes can't save this film.

Sisters is a house party film told by and from the perspective of women, and that is precisely why it succeeds.

Movie night with Iris. Always made sense to pair up Poehler and Fey. This takes a while to get into it's stride, is amusing enough in the middle; and then like all parties drags on too long.

I didn't know that this movie was made in Alabama cuz I'm getting a lot of incest vibes from this movie just from the poster. So unless your into that or don't wanna go see star wars, don't see this movie

It was okay in the beginning and towards the end, the most part of the movie 'the party' was vulgar and stupid. It wasn't funny or even slightly entertaining. However I liked the cast and the idea of the movie.

As usual with this kind of movies, the script does not live up to the talent of its hilarious protagonists, but it's entertaining enough for a sunday night in.

Routine comedy...not enough laughs.

For any girl going through a break up or feeling depressed over her life at a under 40 age, this movie definitely lifts spirits and is pretty hilarious especially with a drink in hand (towards the end of the movie) . I loved it! Great laugh. Not a waste of a movie at all. So if you're such a critic you're not being realistic enough. This movie was cool ??
