It's tough to fight the longstanding consensus that this is the greatest movie musical of all time, but what's often lost in the praise is that this also qualifies as a great comedy. Go to Full Review

Unbelievable the level of suffering that these people went through to create the most exuberantly joyful movie ever made. Go to Full Review

It’s an extravaganza of color, joy and mockery of hokey romances, but perhaps above all, you couldn’t re-create the miracle of Gene Kelly’s footwork with a billion-dollar supercomputer and a contract with the devil. Go to Full Review

Harry S Apr 11, 2019 A lovely musical about making and producing movies during the transition from silent to sound. Great music and dance numbers from masters of their craft. The entire movie bleeds with passion and feels great. Worth buying for life. See more
Rey L Apr 4, 2019 Singin in the rain is a 1952 musical directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen. The film stars Gene Kelly as Don Lockwood and Donald OConnor as Cosmo Brown. The acting in the film was very strong but sadly the comedy makes the actors feel silly and toned down. The characters were alright for the most part but most of the time their just shallow and sometimes even annoying. The cinematography had some great shots and was really impressive especially for the time. The setting with the film studio was in my opinion really colourful and vibrant and just an over all good setting. The set design and props are exemplary and colourful from the literal set designs to the design of the other buildings. The costume design like the set design was colourful and fit the era very nicely. The dialogue was steady but nothing really that special. The editing was good with some cool edits here and there, but there were a couple edits that distracted from the film. The music was okay at points it was very good like the song Singin in the rain, but a couple of the other songs either went on too long or were just there for no reason. The story was fun and interesting but I personally couldnt get into mainly because the characters were just to uninteresting. Now the thing that kind of ruined the film for me was the comedy I felt that it was just too unfunny and just took away from the cinematography and set design of the film. The film wasnt the most boring film ever but it did drag on for me personally. The best part of the movie was probably the Choreography especially with Gene Kelly and Donald OConnor. Over all I give it a 6/10 - impressive, but lacked some key elements See more
