Everything that farmer Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) assumed about the world is changed when he discovers a message - an intricate pattern of circles and lines - carved into his crops. As he investigates the unfolding mystery, what he finds will forever alter the lives of his brother (Joaquin Phoenix) and children (Rory Culkin), (Abigail Breslin). A unique story that explores the mysterious real-life phenomena of crop signs and the effects they have on one man and his family.

Joshua Rothkopf In These Times Mar 16, 2020
Signs is a tense experience; even the opening credits lunge at your throat with orchestral shrieks. It may one day reveal itself as a minor classic, a new Invasion of the Body Snatchers for the manufactured scare of its day. Go to Full Review

It's the content that's to blame. Signs works on a confused storyboard. What's Shyamalan trying to say anyways? Nothing, or rather a bit too much. Go to Full Review

Signs was the film that sparked the desire that led to the purchase of a camera, many short films, and a love of movies that hasn't left me to this day. Go to Full Review

Signs succeeds not only as a suspenseful alien invasion film, but as a deeply moving family drama. Great dialogue and characters pull the viewer into the emotional core of the story, and make the tension all the more poignant. Go to Full Review

"Shyamalan’s classic sci-fi drama Signs is both a thrilling celebration of the genre and a poignant exploration of the purpose behind life’s random tragedies." Go to Full Review

The scares are expertly handled; there’s an undeniable cleverness to the idea that a potential alien invasion could re-instill religious ardor just as it terrorizes an unprepared community. Go to Full Review

Theodore S Apr 28, 2019 While not as good as Shaymalan's other earlier films it still has the early Shaymalan style to it and is still definitely worth watching. See more
Finn S Apr 26, 2019 Here is a review for his critics --who as is the norm BLEW it. If these so called no it all's say DON'T go---We are sure to attend. We watch the previews and the judge for our self. Never ONCE has a critics opinion stopped us from spending a dime. Or in this day in age--$50.-- See more
Albus W Apr 20, 2019 A tight well told story of faith, love, and family. One of M nights best films.
Draco S Apr 13, 2019 Bad news, while not the worst movie I've ever seen, I just don't understand why everyone sees this as scary. I just couldn't get into this movie. The performances from the adult actors aren't that bad and there is the occasional creepy atmosphere and scary scene what with the aliens spending most of the movie offscreen. But I just thought this movie was slow-paced and boring. I wanted to like this movie but I just didn't. The script isn't the best, the child actor for the asthma kid has the same expression throughout the entire movie, when we do see the aliens they just look like generic aliens and of course the ending. Their weakness. Snarking ensues. Maybe there's an alternate reality where this is one of my favourite sci-fi or horror movies of all time but in this reality? Can I just stick with his superhero trilogy instead? See more
Albus S Apr 12, 2019 A true classic! I love this movie!
Ron W Apr 9, 2019 The plot seems like it could really take off. I did love the atmosphere that Shyamalan had created along with the music score adding more of an edge to it. But this was a weak film at its worst and so so at its best. The acting was horrendous, with everyone giving lifeless performances. The story had good intention with the slow pacing, but it didn't have any pay off. There is also a stupid twist that is absent of any sense of logic. Water defeats aliens, really. This should have been way better than what we got. But its a blessing from the god's compared to his other work. See more
