"Sidekicks" is amiable enough, even if cinematically, it makes "Cop and a Half" look like "8 1/2." Go to Full Review

Couched playfully amid all the hambone hokum and Rocky- style heroic flourishes of Sidekicks, there hides an undeniable sense of dignity and emotional uplift. Go to Full Review

Sidekicks is so predictable that you could leave the theater, break a few bricks of your own and not miss anything. Go to Full Review

It's soulful and funny and more than a few notches in quality above the films of those martial arts phenoms the Teen-age Mutant Ninja Turtles. Go to Full Review

There's a sense of desperation about the whole thing: Norris and brother-director Aaron charged with salvaging Norris' flailing career came up with a load of self-aggrandizing fluff. Go to Full Review

The movie is just a Karate Kid knockoff too late to the party and used as a vehicle to give Norris something similar. Go to Full Review

Abraham W Jul 22, 2018 A wimpy dork often daydreams and in doing so has created a fictional friendship with his fantasy pal Chuck Norris. Not liked by his teachers, picked on by his fellow students, and only given pity by his crush, Winnie Cooper (the object of Fred Savage's lust in the Wonder Years is apparently some kinda genius IRL) this boy has no one but his imagination and his equally wimpy father. When said dweeb's dad decides the geek should learn actual martial arts, he takes him to (always awesome) Joe Piscapo's dojo, but is rejected outright for being total weak sauce. Soon he meets a Magical Asian who teaches him the way of the Orient. Now, bolstered by his newfound t'ai chi chuan I ching qi gong prowess, he enters a tournament which pits him against Joe Piscapo's School of Ass Kickin'. Lo' and behold, Chuck Norris shows up in order to further aid in this Karate Kid-like finale. See more
Han R Aug 3, 2017 Inspirational for children with low self-esteem.
Kylo R May 25, 2017 Regardless of anyone else's opinion, I gave this film a 5 star rating for two reasons. Number 1, it is the perfect movie to get underdogs or bullied kids to consider martial arts as a way to develop confidence and assertiveness to stand up for themselves. The 2nd reason for 5 stars, this movie prepared me for gym class when it was my time to climb the ropes. I would have never done as well as I did in proving myself to my peers in high school if it was not for this movie in helping to learn how to properly climb rope. I have to say thank you to all people involved in making this movie, it is a childhood favorite of mine. Especially thanks to Chuck Norris himself and Jonathan Brandis who made a great underdog that I was rooting for. See more
