A life-shattering secret torments Ben Thomas (Will Smith). In order to find redemption, he sets out to change the lives of seven strangers. Over the course of his journey, he meets and falls in love with a cardiac patient named Emily (Rosario Dawson), and in so doing, complicates his mission.

Critics Consensus

Grim and morose, Seven Pounds is also undone by an illogical plot.

Will Smith is brilliant in this movie! He grabs your heart from the beginning and rips it apart.

the critics are heartless, this was a great movie. Will Smith played a tremendous role in this film, never breaking character.

I watched this film because the director of The Pursuit of Happyness directed this and Will Smith did great in that film. I actually enjoyed Seven Pounds because it took me on a questioning journey and I enjoyed how Will Smith was trying to help everyone who needed it. The ending was a big shocker and this is the second movie I have seen with Will Smith having a big twist ending that movie being I Am Legend.

A slow movie that seemed to draw out a predictable ending longer than it should have. The film was very emotional with a good performance by Will Smith. A controversial plot was made in the best light in which it could.
