On a magical night when they are in their 20s, Jonathan (John Cusack) meets Sara (Kate Beckinsale). He finds it love at first sight, but Sara believes in destiny. After 10 years the two -- with 3,000 miles between them -- must decide if fate wants them to be together again. When love feels like magic, it is called destiny; when destiny has a sense of humor, it is serendipity.

Light and charming, Serendipity could benefit from less contrivances.

Han S Apr 6, 2019 While many aspects of the film are charming, the biggest problem with this film is the main characters, who are not likeable and who lack chemistry. Not likeable because they exude selfishness (in the case of their dishonesty and lack of consideration for their fiancees) and lacking in chemistry a natural product of them being separate for the whole movie. Sarah's character is so irritatingly immature at the beginning you almost wish she learns her lesson and never finds him and/or gets hit by a bus. See more
Harry R Jan 15, 2019 Serendipity is an adorable film featuring two likeable leads but it commits one misstep- It keeps the two leads apart from one another for the majority of the running time. This is one of those movies that thinks it's building suspense and romantic expectations by keeping the characters away from one another for most of the movie. In reality, all it's doing is delaying the inevitable moment when they finally get together and robbing us of the opportunity to enjoy them interacting. I like romantic comedies where the characters spend time with each other instead of running around New York City and San Francisco, almost bumping into each other. However, for anyone who loves romance, New York City(pre 9/11) or the actors John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale Serendipity is time well spent See more

Poe S Oct 6, 2018 Nonono! Now I hate it! What about Halley? Stupid!
Leia P Jul 12, 2018 Serendipity is an adorable movie, or any of the words synonyms can apply: cute, sweet etc. Taking place during Christmas NYC the setting is magical and the big apple once again endears itself to the big screen. This is one of the best NYC movies in my opinion. Both Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack are in their element in this romantic-comedy. A great film to watch with a partner. See more
