A shy adolescent boy, Walter (Haley Joel Osment), is taken by his greedy mother (Kyra Sedgwick) to spend the summer with his two hard-boiled great-uncles, Hub (Robert Duvall) and Garth (Michael Caine), who are rumored to possess a great fortune. At first, the two old men, both set in their ways, find Walter's presence a nuisance, but they eventually warm up to the boy and regale him with tall tales from their past. In return, Walter helps reawaken their youthful spirit.

A lovingly sweet tale. A positive tale. A tale of kindness and gentility. Does this even exist anymore? In the eyes of Tim McCanlies, it does. Go to Full Review

Leia P Apr 19, 2019 This movie pulls at everyone's heartstrings. Amazing cast and overall plot. I am happy to say that I have shown this movie to a diverse group of people and everyone loves it: sometimes begrudgingly. Watch and enjoy!!! See more
Kylo L Mar 31, 2019 A wholehearted movie that Michael Caine, Robert Duvall and Haley Joel Osment work really well in. In the beginning you quickly hate Kyra Sedgwick's character because she dumps off her son Walter just to find his uncles money and has no other purpose being there. He does not want to be there and is terrified of his uncles but he grows a friendship with the two and they become the parents that he never had. In the end the uncles appreciate their nephew and treats him like a son that the two never had. See more
Hermione R Mar 22, 2019 Delightful movie -- and the DVD version includes (as an extra) and alternate ending that I think is even better than the original ending! It's a movie the whole family can watch -- and ENJOY!! See more
Theodore R Mar 20, 2019 Sad, great and funny. Sad that I just found this gem.
Leia L Mar 20, 2019 More like one lion and theat the the title is the metaphor for the 2 characters of Michale Caine and Robert Devall.
Mar 19, 2019 Great movie. One of my favourites as a child and still is to this day
