When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, she must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

Critics Consensus

Less a return to Scream's roots than a disappointing creative regression, this seventh entry draws little blood with its dull knife of a script.

OK, it’s a tough call to reinvent yourself afresh after 30 years, but this is a definite case of Could Try Harder. Not a totally horror show – just a bit of a snore.

Scream 7 lacks any semblance of its energy on either the horror or the comedy side of things. It’s not scary, and it’s not that funny. I wish some studio executive had the bravery to kill the franchise. Be sure to shoot it in the head.

Despite its flaws, Scream 7 remains required viewing for series completists. It’s not the franchise at its sharpest, but nostalgia will carry it a long way.

"A shameless, fan-service-y pivot for the sake of maintaining shareholder value, Scream 7, directed by Kevin Williamson, caps off thirty years of Scream with a whimper–for now."
