What to Know

Critics Consensus

Saw II is likely to please the gore-happy fans of the original, though it may be too gruesome for those not familiar with first film's premise.

The original provided some genuinely creepy moments despite an increasingly absurd story line; the equally silly sequel defuses much of its tension... Go to Full Review

If you've bought into the Saw movies, II ups the violence without totally jumping the shark, and is a worthy follow-up to the original. Go to Full Review

Saw II manages to keep the contained thrilling vibe of the first one, stick to jigsaw’s skewed rules of the game, and still present a rather surprising finale, following a film with one of the most memorable twists ever. Go to Full Review

This is one of the strongest sequels of any franchise. The reveals had us all gagged and they still feel electric upon rewatches. Go to Full Review

Draco L Apr 7, 2019 A strong sequel, even if it doesn't live up to the first film. There are some clever twists to be discovered however and the story is rather interesting. See more
Abraham W Apr 2, 2019 an almost perfect mix of the psychological aspect of the original as well as the gore filled adrenaline pumped sequences that the series is known for now. See more
Poe R Mar 12, 2019 Nowhere near as clever or interesting as the first Saw, but nowhere near as laughably silly as the later films in the franchise. Saw II is still a decent horror movie with a great performance by Tobin Bell. See more
Poe S Jan 31, 2019 not so goos as the first one but still scary
Poe S Nov 18, 2018 Saw 2, is absolutely nerve shattering and quite enjoyable!
Hagrid S Jul 19, 2018 A huge step-down from the fantastic first film. This second one felt awful and rushed. The story wasn't even a quarter as good as the first one, and the plot twist felt awful and just dumb. Sure the blood & gore was really good, and Tobin Belle was really good in this movie, and I'm glad he got more screentime, but this movie's just not very good in my opinion. See more
