It's understandable why Warner Bros. might have seen the onset of the Civil War in Santa Fe Trail as a way to comment on WWII but it only comes off as an epic fail. Go to Full Review

Disregarding the film's egregious reframing of history, Santa Fe Trail is one of Curtiz's blandest and most pedestrian films - competently structured but otherwise unremarkable considering the high points of his career. Go to Full Review

What really sinks this one is its standing as a racist document only slightly less offensive than D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation. Go to Full Review

Han L Feb 17, 2008 Though an old black and white, I really enjoyed this movie. Fun. Neat classy old actors. 130919: Still loved it. Funny thing is, I read all these critic reviews below and find comments about accuracy etc. Weird. I don't watch most movies for historical accuracy. I watch for entertainment of which this film provides a great deal. Inspired me look up information on John Brown. See more
