Luke Wright is a two-bit cage fighter, until the day he throws a fixed match. In retaliation, the Russian mob murders his family and destroys his life. Though alone and haunted by grief, Luke springs into action to save a Chinese girl (Catherine Chan) from the same gangsters who killed his family -- and lands in the middle of a high-stakes war. The girl is no ordinary child; she's a math prodigy who holds in her head a numerical code for which various factions are ready to kill.

Critics Consensus

While hard-hitting and violently inventive, Safe ultimately proves too formulaic to set itself apart from the action thriller pack -- including some of its star's better films.

The mechanics make sense, what's going on fits within the confines of the narrative structure, making what's going on within both surprisingly fun and shockingly engaging. Go to Full Review

Like so many action films these days the film is over-edited and under-plotted, and we've seen Statham's tough guy character many times before. Go to Full Review

It's the imposing Statham's badass grimace and combat acumen that primarily elevate Safe above your average direct-to-video genre work Go to Full Review

... delivers an unexpectedly dense, speedy, tight action thriller that is full of rapid-fire street action, makes great use of Statham’s physical poise, and features a body count big enough to make a dent in the New York City census results. Go to Full Review

Ron W Jan 9, 2019 Jason Statham's badass demeanour is very much highlighted in this movie, in all of its brutal, violent and sleek nature. If you're looking for two hours of Statham panache in a pretty average R-rated thriller, SAFE is a good choice. See more
Luke R Dec 26, 2018 Some hard hitting action and violence, but overall nothing new and depressingly average.
Anakin R Oct 30, 2018 Epic fight scenes! Such an amazing movie! Already watched few times using boxxy software
Finn W Oct 28, 2017 If you love him, you'll love this!
George M Sep 18, 2017 Better than expected.
Draco L May 13, 2017 Terrific performance by one of my favorite actors Jason Statham! Notably as well a terrific performance given by Robert John Burke as a dirty gritty cop Captain Wolf. Burke gives a stellar performance with similarities of Hollywood actor Ed Harris. Burke gives a believable performance as a gritty New York City cop that's on the take. Go see it! See more
