Critics Consensus

Derivative and clumsily assembled, Rupture manages the tricky feat of making arachnophobia seem dull.

Jessica Kiang Variety Apr 28, 2017
It's been 15 years since Shainberg's wonderful "Secretary" and 11 since his lesser, yet still interesting "Fur," but this film replaces his facility with gentle, peculiar inquisitions into fetishism with something much more generic. Go to Full Review

It's not involving; it's not scary; it's just kind of miserable. Go to Full Review

Dreary, derivative and flat-out dopey, this dragged-out torture tale will disappoint even those whose hearts race whenever they see a female character strapped to a bed. Go to Full Review

Had loads of potential to be truly frightening, or at least intriguing, but it's dead on arrival. Go to Full Review

Rupture is a rather disappointing return for the idiosyncratic director, and would have benefitted greatly with some more tightly honed characterization and less aimless wandering through a retrofitted office building. Go to Full Review

Using played-out torture porn tropes, this sci-fi horror film feels like a Syfy channel pilot released in the early aughts that never made it to series. Go to Full Review

Hermione R Apr 18, 2019 After ten years Shainberg directs this new film, but the low-budget, the casting of Noomi Rapace and the predominance of the horror genre with tortures on sci-fi, thriller and mystery makes it worse than a B movie. (Mauro Lanari) See more
Feb 16, 2019 Great Movie - I wish scripts were this innovative.
George R Oct 27, 2018 Noomi Rapace,Noomi Rapace,Noomi Rapace,Noomi Rapace I like anything with Noomi in it. But if you are not a Noomi Rapace fan ............... Add it for a rainy day. See more
Hermione R Oct 23, 2018 terrible. love the actors but damn.
Albus S Sep 22, 2018 Noomi Rapace is so cool - but this film ain't. She's an alien - and when she's abducted, they're gonna use her fear of spiders to 'rupture' her human persona and reveal her true self. See more
George M Sep 11, 2018 It was hard to watch more than 30 seconds of this movie with Noomi Rapace's gaping mouth never closing the whole movie. Can This woman's lips touch? Seriously. Was just annoying to watch, but was the best part of this horrible horrible movie that should somehow be erased from ever being seen again. Terrible acting. Terrible Direction. Terrible writing.
