After a workplace shooting in New Orleans, a trial against the gun manufacturer pits lawyer Wendell Rohr (Dustin Hoffman) against shady jury consultant Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), who uses illegal means to stack the jury with people sympathetic to the defense. But when juror Nicholas Easter (John Cusack) and his girlfriend, Marlee (Rachel Weisz), reveal their ability to sway the jury into delivering any verdict they want, a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game begins.

Nothing is quite what it seems and the twists of the plot are played out in some style by director Gary Fleder, who delivers some flashy montage sequences and avoids most of the usual clichs of New Orleans location shooting. Go to Full Review

It's [John] Grisham at his finest. Spellbinding. Riveting. Intriguing. Hackman, Hoffman, Cusack and Davison. Put me in that courtroom now. Go to Full Review

Leia W Jan 22, 2019 A wonderful movie, entertained me a lot. Great actor and storytelling. That's how the law runs in America, 12 simple ones without the education of the people are manipulated by the two laws, defenders and state lawyer. See more
Draco P Sep 28, 2018 Had some interesting twists but was otherwise quite corny and unrealistic.
Jun 11, 2018 Pure Hollywood Propaganda. This all star cast beautifully acted this gun bashing propaganda plot line. It is so tiring and obnoxious to see Hollywood continually ignore our constitutionally protected individual rights and bash guns with irrational emotionality. I want to be entertained by movies not propagandized. See more
George L Dec 9, 2017 This John Grisham story is even more complex and farfetched than his other ones, but I fell for it anyway. It was easy to get hooked by the fine performances - from the whole cast, but with Cusack and Hackman shining particularly brightly - and the moral dilemmas on show are very interesting indeed. The New Orleans in the film feels just right and help sets the tone. See more
Poe G Dec 6, 2017 Your typical Grisham trash, implausible in its thriller plot and realistic in its legal details. More fun than some of the others, focusing less on the lawyers than on their teams, the movie is made especially enjoyable on account of the most fantastic, unbelievable element: That gun companies would ever face consequences for their bad faith, green, and immorality. See more
Anakin S Oct 8, 2017 IMO the best of the Grisham adaptations. Hackman is outstanding
