Rocky II contains the flaws of the original: simplistic characterizations, saccharine romance, a tendency to cuteness. But it also fills the heart and quickens the pulse. Go to Full Review

By the punishing heft of the big fight, there is the clear hint that the series will soon plunge into an unpalatable patriotic fervour. For now, though, with its leathery texture of working class Philly-life it felt enough like reality. Go to Full Review

It’s not the perfect sequel, in fact it’s a staggeringly uneven one, but it makes it across the line in the end and provides an immensely satisfying conclusion. Go to Full Review

This film is a predictable workhorse of a film with few surprises but an ending that will leave you satisfied. Go to Full Review

Luke W Feb 20, 2019 Even though Rocky should've been the only one in the saga, is actually a great sequel which can be very funny at times. The plot is basic and is a straight up follow up from the first. What I loved about this film is that they showed the last 5 minutes of the last one, so if the first one that you watched was the second, you wouldn't need to watch the first to be able to understand the second. This movie mainly focuses around Rocky and Adrian instead of Rocky's boxing career ; I like that because the film can be about their love life instead of his boxing career. The film switch between emotion and humour at time to time because when Adrian comes out of a coma, she says to Rocky to win. That scene was emotional and then straight after it cuts to the funniest scene in the Rocky Saga, the scene when Rocky is running through town with a bunch of children, I found that truly hilarious, but I didn't like how they switched emotions. What I really didn't like about this movie was that it was very predictable because it was quite obvious that Rocky would of won. As the fight was predictable and just like the first, it was very forgettable, so it was great that they re showed us it at the start of the next one, Rocky III. The film can get boring at times because it mainly focuses around his love life and his personal life, because of the scene when he was filming the advert, that went on for way to long. I expected there to be more boxing action in this film because one of the only scenes which involved a boxing topic was the training scene, when Mickey talked to Rocky about his health if he continues boxing, and of course the final fight. So overall, Rocky II, is one of the best Rocky films, and one of the best sequels, due to its humour emotion and the great story between Rocky and Adrian. See more
Hermione G Feb 13, 2019 Spoiler alert ! Rocky wins , This follow up keeps mainly to the beat of Rocky but with a little more tear jerking during the film. Quite a good follow up. It was never gonna beat the first so I have to mark it 4.5 See more
Finn S Feb 11, 2019 Taking what the original did best and upped it a notch with more drama and training montages. Thanks to the intense and riveting final match, Rocky 2 takes its spot as one of the most successful sequel of all time See more
Luke S Jan 27, 2019 (92/100) Rocky II feels very much the same as Rocky, which is good. Sylvester Stallone managed to maintain the feel and look of the first while also, again, writing the script. What I like so much about Rocky II is the struggle, how do you go on from that first fight, how are you going to live. In this way it feels very much like a continuation and it is a very good and smooth continuation. Overall Rocky II has the same roots as Rocky and the same premise, but it manages to keep it interesting by turning things around a bit. See more
Kylo G Jan 8, 2019 Not as fresh as the original, this sequel excels at delivering more development in almost every single aspect the first one provided; characters, plot, focus and, overall, the same passion that made the first one the unforgettable classic it is, with a more depth towards its main fight, in a more epic and exciting way thanks to Stallone's writing and direction, never mind the noticeable formulaic progression that, who would've known, will become one of the best elements out of this franchise. Ron R Jan 1, 2019 This movie really deserves a 5/5 but for the sake of not being overly ambitious, I'm going 4.5. Rocky II is an incredible movie, I believe it has the perfect blend of story and sports. Honestly, I'm underselling it. The love story between Rocky and Adrian is hands down the best part of the film, as a matter of fact, I find myself growing bored near the climatic ending fight. I am much more interested in Rocky as a person rather than Rocky as a fighter and that is the true victory in this story. See more
