It takes a vitally serious subject and makes such a relentlessly dumb hash of it. Go to Full Review

The entertainment value's low in this pointed crime thriller, which saves its action sequences until right before the closing credits. Go to Full Review
Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Nov 8, 2018
The film's third act, featuring standard-issue gunfights and car chases, is too poorly staged to be remotely exciting. Go to Full Review

River Runs Red is a film that is about a very serious issue but tends to sometimes take a campy approach to it. I could have done without a few of the scenes, but it was a pretty good story with a cast that makes the film work. Go to Full Review
Tom Bedford Film Inquiry Nov 11, 2018
While it'll likely be overshadowed by The Hate U Give, River Runs Red is a hugely important film. The themes it explores, and the way it imparts them, make it a vital (albeit austere) piece of social commentary. Go to Full Review

Bloody violence, strong language in weak revenge thriller. Go to Full Review

Ron P Apr 28, 2019 This movie was on Comast ondemand, ranked at 83%. The Trailer is pretty interesting, but the acting is awful, wooden, and cringey. Specifically the mother, (Jennifer Tao) is supposed to be the mother of a guy who is clearly fully African American. The plot is predictable, two dirty cops murder a kid in cold blood, and two dads take revenge. Honestly its just not a good movie. Its a story that tries to rely on its B list cast to convince people that its not actually as bad as a movie as you would think it is. Save an hour and a half of your time and watch anything else. Theodore W Apr 6, 2019 Kind of predictable while being unrealistic.
Hermione W Mar 24, 2019 Dumbest movie in 2018
Feb 25, 2019 Terrible!!!!! Don't waste your time
Abraham L Jan 16, 2019 takes a poignent subject and gives it the same justice the bad cops did in the move....
Anakin L Jan 15, 2019 Tries to highlight one of the realities of today, that of "bad seed" cops killing innocent minorities, only to be protected by fellow officers. However, the acting is so ham-fisted and there's too much sermonizing so the filmmakers points are not as effective. Also, in the last 25 minutes or so, things rally go over-the-top into twists that I didn't expect, and it all becomes a real downer, at least as I see it See more
