Fans of the games will have fun spotting the Easter eggs on display, but precious little else. Indeed, the chief horror here is the cliffhanger promising a third instalment. Go to Full Review

So the action — what we’re there for — is incomprehensible, and the story — what we’re not there for — even more so. Go to Full Review

It is not that the film is stereotypical, or derivative, or often difficult to swallow. The greatest offence here is that the film is boring. Go to Full Review

Apr 22, 2019 In contrast to the previous film, this second installment of the series inspired by the survival horror video game series, Resident Evil, feels intended for a built-in audience of the franchise's existing fans. Characters from the games not present in the previous film appear with little introduction, exposition is delivered through a series of choppily edited recaps and distracting subtitles identifying people and locations, and many elements of the production feel like cheap cop-outs, including its laughable swooshy sound effects, its combination-horror-strings-and-indusrial-synth score, and its nonsensical ending. Although the action-horror sequences are fun, especially for fans, the most interesting aspect of Resident Evil: Apocalypse is probably its international casting, which not only reflects its status as a multi-national production but also emphasizes the pervasive influence of the flagrantly immoral Umbrella Corporation. Finn R Mar 28, 2019 Resident Evil: Apocalypse Review by Gavin J. Porter Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) M15+ | Writer ï¿ 1/2" Paul W. S. Anderson | Director ï¿ 1/2" Alexander Witt Starring Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Mike Epps. Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a 2004 action horror film that is a direct sequel to the 2002 Resident Evil film. The films are loosely based on the survival horror video game series of the same name developed by Capcom. It is rated M15+ for Medium level violence & coarse language. The story is set directly after the events of the first film where Alice (Milla Jovovich), has escaped from a zombie-infested underground laboratory owned by the Umbrella Corporation, only to wake up in a Hospital above ground in the fictious Raccoon City thatï¿ 1/2(TM)s been overrun with zombies. Alice bands up with disgraced police officer, Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory), and a soldier for the Umbrella Corporation, Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr), in order to escape Raccoon City before the city gets bombed into oblivion to stop the spread of the T-Virus ï¿ 1/2" a viral weapon developed by the Umbrella Corporation for military use. As a fan of the Resident Evil games I used to enjoy watching this film a lot, until I discovered that the story of the Resident Evil films isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t a full-blown tie-in to the story of the Resident Evil games. Nowadays Iï¿ 1/2(TM)ve sadly lost interest in the live action Resident Evil films altogether. Despite this there are some things I like about the film. Millaï¿ 1/2(TM)s action scenes in this movie are very heart-poundingly awesome. It was the first live-action Resident Evil film to feature a few characters from the games (Such as Jill and Carlos). I also loved the scene later in film that served as a (somewhat) recreation to the intro of the Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (hero outruns machine-gunfire from a helicopter, feigning surrender to Umbrella guards only to catch a gun she just dropped in mid-air to kill them.) Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s a mild nitpick of mine, but I wasnï¿ 1/2(TM)t too happy with Carlosï¿ 1/2(TM) last name being changed from ï¿ 1/2Oliveiraï¿ 1/2? in the games to ï¿ 1/2Oliveraï¿ 1/2? in the movies. I just didnï¿ 1/2(TM)t see the point as to why the change was necessary. I also enjoyed Sienna Guilloryï¿ 1/2(TM)s portrayal of Jill Valentine, mostly because of the fact that a behind the scenes featurette reveals that Sienna actually played Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in order to prepare her for the role. Anakin P Mar 8, 2019 I hated this movie when it first came out, I was 19 and maybe not the best at giving films a chance. 15 minutes into revisiting it now I turned it off, absolutely right the first time. Never seen a film fail on so many levels at the same time. Laughable dialogue, childish direction, awful editing and acting straight out of a porn film. Honestly the 1996 polygons delivered a more convincing performance. See more
Anakin R Dec 26, 2018 It is not very attached to the original story, but what it gives us is very entertaining.
Leia S Dec 14, 2018 Not as good as the first. Made me uninterested in the he secquals for many yaars. Watch when it was new and only seen the sequels recently (2018) when a friend and I decided to watch the whole series. See more
Albus W Nov 16, 2018 Terrible movie. Absolutely terrible. Just another stupid, boring, shallow, generic, mindless action popcorn flick in this shitty franchise. Morons only like these stupid movies. Basically the same as the previous film, but so much worse. The plot is still extremely thin, the acting is still terrible and stiff, all of the characters are still cardboard cutouts, and Alice is still a Mary Sue. The action scenes in this one are far more over-the-top and unrealistic than the ones in the previous film. The fact that this shitty movie has a 60% RT audience score really tells me that the American audience is stupid and have shitty taste in films. This stupid movie deserves to have at least a 25% RT audience score. This is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. One of the worst films ever made. Rating: 2.1/10 See more
