Critics Consensus

Remember risks wandering into exploitative territory, but it's bolstered by some of Egoyan's best latter-day directing and a typically stellar performance from Christopher Plummer.

Once Remember begins to unfold, the astonishment of watching an elderly man, who is losing his memory minute-by-minute, become a one-man Nazi hunter is intoxicating. Go to Full Review

A strong supporting cast also does good work, and the film -- as is the case of all Egoyan's films -- is made with smooth professionalism. It's a pity that it increasingly strays into the direction of almost laughable improbability. Go to Full Review

The performance by Plummer, now in his mid-80s, amounts to a masterclass on how to use one's actual physical limitations to advantage. Go to Full Review

The thrills come with the search, but Remember's main buzz comes from Plummer's heartfelt and assured performance as a man struggling to reconcile the past with the present. Go to Full Review

The ability of Nazi criminals to hide their past from "their families" does indeed take center stage, but in an almost entirely gimmicky, contrived manner. Go to Full Review

Aug 26, 2018 266. Remember. This is a crazy good movie. Directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Christopher Plummer as Zev, a holocaust survivor and about a week ago, his wife passed away, and another patient at the nursing home they reside, Max, reminds Zev about a promise he made to Max: Hunt down the remaining Nazi's that killed his family in Auschwitz. And even though Zev is suffering from dementia in a hardcore way, he keeps his promise, with the help of a letter of specific instructions by Max... It reminded me of Memento, at one point Zev starts writing notes on his body... Sends him on a journey across a nation, carrying out his promise to an epic conclusion! Filmbufftim on FB. See more

Finn W Aug 13, 2018 I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. If you have Netflix, it is much watch material imo. In fact, one of the best mysteries I have ever seen. My mouth was open at the end it was so shockingly good. See more
Finn S May 23, 2018 Plummer and Landau are just brilliant. And the script is supremely intelligent without a hint of pretense. A Sixth Sense twist as well. Loved it. See more
Rey W Apr 24, 2018 One of the most riveting movies I have seen in a long time. Definitely did not see the ending coming. See more
