Heart's in the right place, but very broad and quite irritating too.

Well, it's a doggy story for humans, anyway: an avowedly true-life tale that comes across like a well-meaning PG-certification of the real world.

It's not quite as blatant a tearjerker as some of its pooch-based predecessors, and frankly, it's all the better for it.

Red Dog still boasts plenty of Ocker charm, thanks to an eclectic cast of character actors.

Flaws are balanced, however, by some terrific performances and Geoffrey Hall's superb cinematography.

An endearing, funny, idiosyncratic tale, director Kriv Stender's film is made up of a series of hilarious and tearjerking scenes of human folly.

A great story about an Australian legend, a red kelpie. Anyone who has owned one of these dogs (like I have and do) will understand and confirm how unique they are - backyard legends everywhere. Glad the story teller decided to continue to push this one over years to finally get it made. Thanks

A confusing plotline with unclear timeskips and characters with near-to-no chemistry, Red Dog is a below-average family movie with no real message or point to the story.
