What to Know

Critics Consensus

Rams transcends its remote location -- and somewhat esoteric storyline -- by using the easily relatable dynamic between two stubborn brothers to speak universal truths.

After grim comedy comes the threat of grim tragedy. The ending is a do-or-die confrontation with the elements, powerfully presented. Go to Full Review

Gummi and Kiddi's interactions tend toward the comical, but the rock-steady widescreen cinematography by Sturla Brandth Grøvlen lends the proceedings a deadpan aura. Go to Full Review

This small, peculiar story becomes strangely involving; it's a movie that sneaks up on you, right up to the bursting-dam emotion of its extraordinary closing scenes. Go to Full Review

The movie takes off as a British comedy of manners and then it diverts into an a-la-Kaurismäki absurd tragic comedy. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Icelandic film doesn’t have to go this hard. This is like Yorgos Lanthimos more grounded in reality, or Todd Solondz with a big, bushy white beard. Go to Full Review

Hermione R Oct 30, 2018 Interesting and different film, DEPICTING the relationship between 2 brothers.
Leia G Oct 23, 2018 Many jokes to make with one's own brother about carrying him around in to a front end loader.
Han S Sep 20, 2018 "Rams" is a poetic slow burning story, the problem is that there is not much of a story. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. I loved the poster of the movie and I think I knew I was going to like it even before watching it to be honest. It is just one of those movies. Took more effort than anticipated, but a powerful ending and a gorgeous cinematography did the trick. On that note, by the way, I start to think that is way easier to be a good cinematographer when the films are shot in dreamy, bucolic scenery. (EG: this movie, God's own country, The Revenant and so on) See more

Kylo G Jul 16, 2017 This winner of the Un Certain Regard prize at 2015 Cannes Film Festival is a tenderly affecting comedy about two long-feuding brothers reconciling amid an imminent annihilation of their titular prized ancestral sheep stock. See more
Kylo L Jul 15, 2017 Richly-drawn characters and subtle performances make this otherwise-slight dramedy really quite watchable.
