Critics Consensus

Injecting its compendium of crime tales with the patois of everyday conversation, Pulp Fiction is a cinematic shot of adrenaline that cements writer-director Quentin Tarantino as an audacious purveyor of killer kino.

Anakin S Apr 29, 2019 Pulp Fiction was one of the most influential films of all time with a story not told in chronological order letting the audience piece together parts of the story as it goes on. Put an intriguing story together with a star cast, and great script, and you have yourself a modern classic. See more

Apr 18, 2019 CHICO, Calif. --- Pulp Fiction, which premiered for the first time 25 years ago, has stood the test of time as a cult classic film full of memorable dialogue, brilliant cinematography, award-winning acting, and the gut-wrenching gore we have become accustomed to from Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino is well-known for his shoot-him-up style films, generally depicting crime lords as protagonists. What makes Pulp Fiction seem different from his other films is the normality of the criminals, and the show-no-fear mentality they subtly show. If you took a conversation between Vincent (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) out of context, they would seem like two co-workers simply shooting the shit on their morning commute to their 9-5. They talk about something as random as what Quarter Pounders from McDonalds in France are called, but the conversation is still memorable. "A royale with cheese." If you didn't know any better you would think they are lawyers, or accountants, but in reality their "occupation' is kicking ass and taking names, and making sure Marcellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) is content with their work. Pulp Fiction does an incredible job of showing the importance of loyalty, what it means to others, and how even if you continue to strive for it you might not end up with a "happy ending." With quotes such as "That's when you know you've found somebody special when you can just shut the f--- up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence," by Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson's recalling of "Ezekiel 25:17," this movie is one that has stood the test of time. This star studded cast also includes Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, and Amanda Plummer, with wonderful performances from all. If you haven't seen Pulp Fiction yet, make sure to watch it on Netflix before they take it off again. See more
Draco R Apr 18, 2019 Pulp Fiction has so much style, and is difficult to not like. Each character has their own story and different outcome. One looks for redemption, one spares a life, and one stays on the path to destruction. See more
