What to Know

Critics Consensus

A dim and predictable remake of an already dull slasher film, this Prom Night fails to be memorable.

I liked the way in which the teens find ever-more elaborate pretexts to take themselves off, alone, into the darkness to investigate this or that. Go to Full Review

This do-over isn't so much an improvement over the original as lousy in a whole new direction, a nearly bloodless slasher film with fewer surprises than a broken jack-in-the-box. Go to Full Review

One of the most memorable nights in a teenager's young life is grist for a pretty unmemorable movie in this tame horror entry that follows conventions to the letter. Go to Full Review

The movie won't even satisfy viewers looking for cheap thrills and buckets of blood. Go to Full Review

While it fails to break new ground, it does shape itself up to be a prime example of horror films that may be due, especially in this new wave age of horror, for another induction. Go to Full Review

About the only positive thing I can say about Prom Night is that it does manage to have a few unintentionally humorous moments. Go to Full Review

Apr 18, 2019 It may or may not be one the worst horror movies ever made, but it's indeed the lamest slasher movie I've ever seen. When a movie starts with a PG-13 family murder scene, you know the rest of the movie will be dull. The acting was mediocre at best, the music selection was obnoxious, and the scares were nonexistent, but there were certainly a lot of jump scares. It's a generic slasher movie where you know which characters are going to die. Basically, any characters that goes upstairs will be killed. This movie is less than an hour and a half long, but the pacing was excruciatingly slow. The villain takes way too long to kill the characters as the movie tries to build "suspense" before they decide to inevitably kill off the characters, and this attempt at building suspense hurts the pacing immensely. This movie is so bad that not even Idris Elba could make this movie watchable. Don't waste your time with this one! See more
Oct 17, 2018 A very poor movie. Not scary or horrifying. I shake but it's because I get a cold from this movie
Draco S Jul 8, 2018 This movie is definitely cliche and predictable but I'm okay with that! This is a movie where you either really like it or really hate it. See more
Luke S Apr 16, 2018 This movie had the worst movie ending that I have ever seen in my life.
