Parker Posey cuts a ferociously funny swath through Michael Walker's "Price Check," a corporate comedy that tells you more than you ever wanted to know about the hypercompetitive world of retail marketing.

It tries to say something about money, morals, selling out on dreams, etc, but all that flaccid dressing just doesn't mesh.

B+

Posey is bravely unlikable and invested in Walker's script, turning Price Check from a mechanical comedic routine about office politics into something complex and occasionally dangerous. I wasn't aware she was even capable of this.

Posey is fantastic here as the BPD boss, and, even though Price Check can't make up its mind on whether it's a workplace comedy or a morality drama, she carries the scenes through their uneven writing and pacing. My guess with the ending is that they either didn't have the courage or budget to carry things through to darker places they were obviously headed before wrapping things up with a nice saccharine bow.

I liked this movie from start to finish. The story held together and the acting was good with Parker Posey standing out in her lead role. Worth seeing.
