Dusty is a small-town plane who dreams of one day competing as a high-flying air racer. However, poor Dusty has two strikes against him: He's not built for racing, and he's terribly afraid of heights. To achieve his dream, Dusty turns to naval aviator Skipper. Skipper helps Dusty qualify to take on Ripslinger, the race circuit's defending champion. Dusty's courage faces the ultimate test, as he takes aim at heights he never dreamed were possible.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Planes has enough bright colors, goofy voices, and slick animation to distract some young viewers for 92 minutes -- and probably sell plenty of toys in the bargain -- but on nearly every other level, it's a Disney disappointment.

Essentially, it's Cars retold with planes. Small, undiscerning kiddies will probably love it and demand the DVD on repeat; adults will be nosediving into their popcorn with boredom. Go to Full Review

For "international", read "packed with wince-worthy ethnic stereotyping" - it's the only way the writers know how to define character in a universe this soulless. Go to Full Review

Planes is sweet. It’s also insubstantial and feels incomplete; a film I think I might have liked better if I’d never seen Pixar’s Cars. Go to Full Review

One film that should find itself grounded from the box-office airways rather quickly. Go to Full Review

Han R Apr 22, 2019 A neat animated movie!
Poe S Feb 14, 2019 This film felt waaaayy too cliche. There was nothing in it that felt original or new, even the world itï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s in isnï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)t new, because itï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s based off of the Cars world. Sure it was satisfying to see Dusty win at the end but honestly how else would this film end? It just felt very empty and emotionless. The one scene where they did try to put emotion into, it was WAAYY too forced and didnï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)t even make sense for the characters or plot. Wouldnï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)t recommend. If you want to see a movie with a similar plot WATCH ANY OTHER FILM! See more
George R Jan 1, 2019 If you are stuck in a closet with nothing else on your phone you can watch then this is the movie for you
Luke M Aug 12, 2018 This movie was very boring in my opinion and was really hard to understand most of the story elements. However, I saw this when i was around six years old so I may not have understood it very well. See more
Han W Aug 10, 2018 What the heck was Disney thinking?? At least Pixar was smart enough to not do this
