College student Beca knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that's exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women of the group out of their comfort zone of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

Critics Consensus

Pitch Perfect's plot is formulaic, but the performances are excellent and the musical numbers are toe-tapping as well.

It’s aimed at Glee fans and teenage girls, but the infectious energy will appeal to a wider audience.

Luckily, Pitch Perfect has just enough flaws to (almost) keep us from making terrible puns around its title, but this fun comedy is good enough to leave an a cappella version of "No Diggity" stuck in your head. For a week.

The sung numbers are pretty dreadful but you can't have everything.

If it looks like the sort of film you’d like, you’ll probably love it. Even if it isn’t the sort of film you would normally watch, it’s good enough that you’ll likely still find much to enjoy.

The movie pitch perfect had many moments that I believe to be unoriginal but it also had a great mix of romantic and dark humor the movie conveyed many things one that I believe that was conveyed the most was the fact of no matter how good looking you are or how bad you are there is always room for improvement

This movie is a lot of fun to watch and sing along too. Rebel Wilson steals all of her scenes in a good way.

Pitch perfect is an incredibly fun movie filled with spectacular music numbers. The likes of Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow make this movie one you canâ(TM)t miss.

Loved it! What a fun movie! Great singing! Fun story. Good acting. I will watch this movie over and over.

This film initially seemed a prime candidate for your typical family-friendly musical, perhaps nothing more than a mediocre rip-off of Hairspray. However, as I began watching, I uncovered the truth was far worse. The jokes revolving around sex are hackneyed and unending, and almost all of the humor falls flat on it's face. The only points this movie can earn are due to the passable music choices, occasionally acceptable acting and no glaring technical issues, but I can confidently say there is nothing enjoyable about this film. If you are forced to watch this film, perhaps dragged into it by a female friend or young kids, be sure to keep a hammer nearby to beat yourself over the head with, in order to numb the pain this film induces.
