Critics Consensus

Personal Shopper attempts a tricky series of potentially jarring tonal shifts with varying results, bolstered by a performance from Kristen Stewart that's impossible to ignore.

[Stewart] offers a refined version of her Twilight saga performance, which oscillates between discreet twitchiness and vocal outbursts, as if emotions had to fight against in order to be felt. Go to Full Review

If at times Assayas can be overly cerebral, as if he distrusts the pull of narrative, Stewart’s astonishing naturalness on screen acts as much-needed counterweight. Go to Full Review

‘Personal Shopper is a key film in Stewart’s graduation from the Twilight franchise, she’s absolutely mesmerising in this role, mixing movie-star looks with a fragile, vulnerable, real-world character that generates intense involvement…. Go to Full Review

Finn S Mar 29, 2019 Decent super natural.
Albus P Mar 7, 2019 It's very good movie I saw last year
Rey M Mar 3, 2019 This Kristen Stewart exhibition movie appears convoluted, but it's all connected and wraps everything up in the end. Otherwise it doesn't explore much of it subjects except the vulnerability of grief. Kristen Stewart superfans can probably tell if all the clothing she tries on were her previous red carpet pieces. Abraham P Feb 25, 2019 65/100 I think it's not for my taste but... the acting (Kristen Stewart) and the idea are good.
Albus P Feb 21, 2019 What a strange gem of a film...
Hermione S Feb 20, 2019 This movie did seem like a reason to undress Kristen Stewart, not much else. Other than the main characterï¿ 1/2(TM)s alienation and grief of her brothers death I really donï¿ 1/2(TM)t see the point. It tries to be to many things; self discovery, afterlife, murder, and not even very fulfilling in any exploration. Kristenï¿ 1/2(TM)s character Maureen says she is a medium. Number one if you are looking for existence of the afterlife and you see it right in front of you, why are you going to doubt it-as in when she sees what I assume is a spirit (which by the way is never investigated or spoken of again, weï¿ 1/2(TM)re just left hanging). Sheï¿ 1/2(TM)s a medium and she runs out the door in terror. I ask what the H is she doing there to begin with if sheï¿ 1/2(TM)s afraid of seeing something duh. Maybe Iï¿ 1/2(TM)m stupid but what was the point of the murder? Is it suppose to straighten her out and she leaves Paris? I dunno. I will give the movie the fact that she is unresolved as to where her brother is after death and what exactly she is experiencing with some of the events that happens. So like many of us weï¿ 1/2(TM)re left wondering what is after, even though she is a medium. Perhaps their should be another word for what she calls herself cause medium doesnï¿ 1/2(TM)t fit. There was no real gain from the slow pace and scattered story line. Kristen pretty much is what held it together. No offense to the other actors but had this been an unknown actress I would have turn it off the first 10 minutes. See more
