Long ago, legions of monstrous creatures called Kaiju arose from the sea, bringing with them all-consuming war. To fight the Kaiju, mankind developed giant robots called Jaegers, designed to be piloted by two humans locked together in a neural bridge. However, even the Jaegers are not enough to defeat the Kaiju, and humanity is on the verge of defeat. Mankind's last hope now lies with a washed-up ex-pilot, an untested trainee and an old, obsolete Jaeger.

It may sport more style than substance, but Pacific Rim is a solid modern creature feature bolstered by fantastical imagery and an irresistible sense of fun.

Del Toro is a dreamer. He's a visionary. If you give him a pile of money to make enormous robots fight enormous monsters at the end of civilization, he will work to make Pacific Rim a movie that makes you feel all the enormousness.

In essence, Pacific Rim features a series of Godzilla monsters battle an ever dwindling number of Transformers, layered over the plot from Independence Day, only dumber.

Plenty will love it now and, don't get me wrong, there is plenty here to love. Still, an equal plenty will regret it later and increasingly roll their eyes with every repeat viewing as the movie gets overshadowed by the next shiny object.

The second one was solid, but it can't top this one. It's beautifully cgi'd, has some great action, and has really good emotion.

This film has good characters and good scenes the cgi makes me very immerse into the action. The script and storyline is very creative and it has met up to my expectations of watching it

Really entertainingly over the top. Love giant robots. Wish I had a proper surround sound system and a HDR setup, but it's still a good watch in regular ole full HD too.

This movie knows what it is. Pure cheesy eye candy. The story is pretty by the numbers, but visually INCREDIBLE. The jaegers are so cool and tangible, you won't want to blink.

After the throw up that has really become the Transformers universe, this is really where those sci-fi movies should reside. Giant robots fighting aliens but with a cool story. It balances the action and story well with a cool concept, though we agree the world government's actions make zero sense. The movie is cast really well. Also, nice the movie was resolved in a way that makes sense and was satisfying as opposed to a thrown together one to prepare for an impending sequel.

Synopsis
