Kate is a single, working-class mother of three who's hired to clean a luxury yacht that belongs to Leonardo -- a selfish, spoiled and wealthy Mexican playboy. After unjustly firing Kate, Leonardo falls off the boat and wakes up with no memory of who he is. To get payback, Kate shows up at the hospital and convinces the confused amnesiac that they're married. As Leonardo tries to get used to manual labor and his new family, Kate starts to wonder how long she can keep fooling her fake husband.

Critics Consensus

Overboard makes poor use of the ever-charming Anna Faris -- and chooses questionable source material -- to offer a remake that fails to clear the fairly low bar set by the original.

Comedy is very binary. People are either laughing or their not... If you're in a room where a comedy is playing and nobody is laughing you can hear the lack of space.

To make matters worse, the chemistry between Faris and Derbez is non-existent and makes you yearn, in a way you never thought possible, for the glory days of Hawn and Russell.

You'll find yourself cringing at some of the attempts at gags, with some moments really only evoking a pity laughs as the film moves towards its predictable finale.

I actually enjoyed this movie!! Yes the 1st one is better but they did incorporate parts of the original to this remake. I honestly would of liked to see Kate Hudson be the main character but that's just me. There is a fair amount of Spanish so I couldn't look away and get the just of what was happening cause I had to read subtitles. But all in all it was good!!

This is a movie that should have never been remade. The one with Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell will always be the best one.

I thought this was a great film. Not sure why it has such a low score. It has plenty of laughs and a light hearted ridiculous plot that worked for the idea of the film. I definitely recommend.

I know this film got reviewed badly, but I liked it. Easy going romcom. Surprised it's been reviewed so low tbh.
