In this coming-of-age comedy, Tim Dunphy (Shawn Hatosy) is leading a go-nowhere existence, spending his days smoking pot and hanging out with his best friend, Drugs Delaney (Jon Abrahams). But Tim's lazy days of getting high are jettisoned after a brush with the law convinces his blue-collar dad (Alec Baldwin) to send him to a Connecticut prep school. The one saving grace of the new school is Jane (Amy Smart), a fellow student Tim falls for immediately.

The role could be a cliché, but Baldwin, sitting in his grim living room eating ice cream out of the carton and watching some stupid variety show, turns Old Man Dunphy into someone we all know.

Story about a dumb city guy who attends a strict boarding school for his senior year. A lot of drug humor. Pranks gallor. I really like it. The only drawback is no sex which I think ruins the movie a bit. Anyway...

Not as good but similar to Dazed and Confused with its seventies setting, vibes and soundtrack. It wasn't too funny or meaningful, but I liked Shawn Hatosy in the lead role. (First and only viewing - 4/22/2017)

Synopsis
