Luke S Dec 31, 2018 Maybe it's just because I didn't grow up as a woman in Japan, but I had a hard time staying interested in Only Yesterday. I understand they were trying to induce a sense of nostalgia, but it dragged on far too long for what it had to say. This isn't a Studio Ghibli film I'd visit again. See more
Rey S Nov 8, 2018 This movie is doodoo
Sep 24, 2018 I watched this Masterpiece in Japanese with English subtitles. I will say, simply, that this is the best movie I have ever watched. It's unforgettable. See more
Anakin P Jul 7, 2018 perhaps it is because this film isn't directed at me but i found this film to not be that interesting when you get right down to it. only yesterday just wasn't that dramatic of a story and while it had plenty of sweet moments it also had plenty of scenes where it was hard to pay attention that closely, uneventful really. George R Jun 26, 2018 By far one of my least favorite Ghibli movies. The atmosphere is not enough to carry the utter lack of anything remotely interesting happening. Caught myself zoning out and almost didn't make it through the movie. See more
Poe W Jun 15, 2018 This movie is ugly to look at, and the animation looks unfinished. The plot is random, if you can even call it a plot. The voice acting is awful. Nothing happens in this movie, it's just a bunch of random individual scenes that have no effect on the main character at all. The worst thing about this film is how pretentious it is, when in reality, it's just a bunch of random scenes shoved together. There's plenty of anime out there with slow plots that do what this movie tried to do, but good. The parts of the movie that are midly interesting are never explored, in favor of showing the audience some random character no one cares about. You can probably enjoy this movie if you're extremely pretentious or high. See more
