On its way back from a raid on the city of Stuttgart, Germany, a British bomber is shot down over Nazi-held Holland. Parachuting into Dutch farmlands under cover of darkness, the six-member crew, led by stalwart pilot John Glyn Haggard (Hugh Burden) and crusty Yorkshireman co-pilot Tom Earnshaw (Eric Portman), connects with members of the local resistance, led by schoolteacher Els (Pamela Brown), who shelter the Brits from their Nazi inquisitors as they make their way towards freedom.

This is an exceedingly good flying-war film. Lovely photography, first-class direction, straightforward production and sincere acting from people who know their job put it at the top of its class so far. Go to Full Review

Theodore P Jul 9, 2018 One of the most interesting wartime propaganda films ever made and why? Because this British production is actually a commercial for another country altogether. The crew of a shot-up Brit bomber goes down and must make their way across Nazi-occupied Holland to get home. Do get this done the team depends on the Dutch Resistance, and so the piece is about what the Nederlanders do get the boys home. Thrilling, while also being the most Dutch I've heard spoken outside of a Dutch production itself. Jolly good show! See more
