What to Know

Critics Consensus

One Missed Call has a few interesting ideas and benefits from director Takashi Miike's eye, but is ultimately too unoriginal to recommend.

Miike's return to the horror genre is a slicker and less original affair than Audition, but also sharply dissects the J-horror phenomenon even as it scares the hell out of you. Go to Full Review

Finn W Feb 20, 2019 This movie was just ok. I was hoping for much more considering it was from Miike. The scares just aren't there... and when that's the film's main goal, it's hard to give it a passing grade. It is by far better than it's American counterparts but that's not saying much as those were terrible. This movie comes across as typical J-horror fare for that time period (it's akin to The Grudge imo). The acting is ok but there's nothing special re the direction which is very surprising. Here's to hoping the sequels are actually better. See more

Albus W Dec 13, 2018 Again i'd watch it for mindless nite with friends. i mean don't go into it with oscar expectations and you'll have fun with it. some scary scenes too See more
Anakin S Nov 30, 2018 Scary Japanese horror flick.
Oct 5, 2018 Oh dear. Not the best horror film that I've seen. I got bored in the middle. But sat through it anyway. Ending to be fair pretty rubbish See more
Han P Feb 11, 2018 Nothing new, yet some of the scenes work great. Its very obvious where this movie got some of his influence, its a horror movie that can be apreciated by wester audiences, but still mantaining some great J-horror elements. See more
