What to Know

Critics Consensus

Inert animation and generically chipper characters rob Once Upon a Forest of any personality despite its well-intentioned message and critter appeal for very young children.

It's a good thing this breezy animated adventure lasts only slightly more than 70 minutes. Children will no doubt enjoy its simple tale, but would probably grow restless if it went on for a minute longer. Go to Full Review

Respect for nature and the environment is a message that no one would quarrel with, but this is yet another example of a movie that can't or won't differentiate between technology and the use to which it is put. Go to Full Review

The characters are not memorable; the songs are lame and the drawing style is pedestrian. Go to Full Review

A pleasing, sweet primer in caring for our flora and fauna. Go to Full Review

For all the feeling the drawing instills in the figures, it might be termed inanimation. Go to Full Review

From the first moments of Once Upon a Forest, there is evidence of high artistic standards. The backgrounds are beautifully detailed, right down to the shading and contours of a tree trunk. Go to Full Review

Theodore W Apr 10, 2019 Loved this as a kid. PAINFUL as an adult! At least it gets some entertainment points for kiddos, though I'd suggest watching something kid-friendly that also doesn't subvert itself. See more
Draco S Feb 4, 2019 Im biased. I grew up watching this movie, so its nostalgic for me. Its a good kids movie though. For what it is, its great. If you see it for the first time as an adult however it likely won't be as entertaining. See more
Draco M Feb 23, 2018 I loved this movie as a kid and still love it as an adult. Very memorable, and wonderful storyline!
Luke G Jun 16, 2017 I LOVED this movie as a child, and seeing it as an adult for the first time in years makes me love it even more. My nieces love this movie too, & they are 5 & under. It has such a great message. I'll forever love this movie & the memories I have growing up loving this movie. Whoever has anything negative to say about it is way too harsh & judgemental. Listen to the message of the movie instead of judging it's animation (from 1992) & the quality of the songs, because that's ridiculous to judge this movie for. It's not about all of that. It's about the message this movie delivers, and it delivers it amazingly. I'll always love this movie. See more
Leia R Dec 28, 2016 This movie is stupid. Because the animation looks like s**t, Songs is bad, These animals are noisy brats
Theodore W Apr 23, 2010 Its cold, mean, unwatchable and the story is cliched.
