Critics Consensus

Despite good intentions, Nim's Island flounders under an implausible storyline, simplistic stock characters, and distracting product placement.

This film wants to be cute but is instead nauseatingly twee, and features what is by a great distance the weakest performance of Foster's career. Go to Full Review

Foster proves adept at broad physical comedy, the animated sequences charm, and codirectors Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett send up the make-believe Rover with panache. Go to Full Review

The movie gets plain silly, but at least it's lively, and young girls will enjoy Nim's lifestyle in her eco-friendly and frolic-packed tropical paradise. Go to Full Review

Rey M Oct 28, 2018 Don’t read the reviews Don’t understand how this film is 46% Loved it with my children had a magically morning
Hagrid W Feb 15, 2017 Nim's island is pretty bad, I kind of hate it, it's a bad kids movie and don't show your kids this
Theodore S Feb 4, 2017 Take it as a fairly tale and you'll love it.
Finn L Sep 20, 2014 fun family adventure tale and Jody Foster does a great job as usual
Finn P Feb 20, 2011 I didn't like the story-line at all. Talking animals; characters getting out of impossible situations; totally predictable. I saw it a second time a couple years later, softened my stand a bit and raised my rating by 1/2 a star. At least the plot kept moving. See more
