After a rare comet sighting, teen sisters Regina (Catherine Mary Stewart) and Samantha (Kelli Maroney) find that they're among the only survivors of a zombie attack. The girls partner with another survivor, Hector (Robert Beltran), but as they try to avoid the zombies, they're sought by scientists who want to experiment on their bodies in the hope of finding an antidote. Critics Consensus

Valley Girl culture satire Night of the Comet gets lots of mileage out of its slapstick sci-fi zombie approach.

For all this film’s Valley girl aesthetics, being reminded of what could happen if we don’t listen to science but do take one another for granted seems fairly essential. Bitchin’, isn’t it? Go to Full Review

Night of the Comet is not really symbolic of anything quite so real world perilous, but it serves as a rare example of smart, resourceful and snarky butt-kicking women in film of that decade. Go to Full Review

... a cheaply made science-fiction movie that enters the atmosphere without ever igniting. Go to Full Review

There's no question this was made in the 1980s, and that's a positive for people who have enjoyed similarly silly sci-fi flicks like Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Creeps, and other airy efforts from that decade. Go to Full Review

There's a sense of fun amidst the semi-sincere peril, even when a juvenile, girlish dress-up montage segues into a machine gun shootout with sadistic, anarchic stockboys. Go to Full Review

[Night of the Comet] is boring, unamusing and nearly as convoluted as Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life. Go to Full Review

Mar 8, 2019 Hidden classic. If you like a campy zombie 80s movie, check this one out. It is great!
Hagrid W Feb 7, 2019 This mediocre film has a lot of good music in the background. By a word, not that bad considering...
Hermione R Nov 29, 2018 If the premise excites you- and why shouldn't it, two valley girls are left on earth after a comet hits the planet, oh, and the only surviving creatures are cannibal zombies, then watching this film will be even better. Its well- acted and beautifully photographed (the earlier empty streets with that orange tinge reminiscence of a nuclear winter are amazing) and moves at a brisk pace. Give Night of the Comet a shot to remind yourself why the 80s were such an awesome time for B movie lovers. See more
Kylo W Nov 11, 2018 In a flash the end of the world comes and in the wreckage all that remains are a couple of valley girl cheerleaders and a horny trucker to carry on the burden of human civilization-and honestly, things could be worse. Sparsely made, stylishly filmed, and with its tongue firmly in cheek, the movie fuses standard B-movie schlock with a bright neon 80s aesthetic to ironic effect reflective of its era, flipping gender stereotypes and pulling the rug out from underneath anthropocentric self-seriousness. Besides the titular tail of the comet, our big-haired heroines must survive grotesque mutant not-quite-dead-yet pseudo-zombies, teenage male anarchists, and humorously mad scientists, yet the film never loses its zany irreverence or sense of humor: Girls just wanna have fun after all. Hermione R Oct 26, 2018 This movie was absolutely entertaining- funny, witty, you name it! It felt like how someone might REALLY react to this situation as opposed to some other "end of the world" type movies. See more
Anakin W Sep 16, 2018 One of my favorite parody movies
