Anakin W Apr 22, 2019 A great comedy! One of my favorite movies!
Kylo P Apr 18, 2019 Napoleon Dynamite is about its unlikable protagonist meandering around his small, rural town, the plot seemingly going nowhere. Sixteen-year-old Napoleon finds himself in a variety of uncomfortable situations, however it seems you're supposed to chuckle at the sheer awkwardness of his behavior, as most of the scenarios are completely lacking a punchlineâ"or at least, a funny punchline. For something that only runs for an hour and thirty-six minutes, it feels like you're stuck in the movie's slow-paced world for an eternity. Napoleon is oblivious and egotistical, revealing the thinly-veiled truth that the movie is made for pretentious audiences to laugh at Napoleon's stupidity, not with him. Seeing as Napoleon has no redeeming qualities, unlike other less-than-intelligent protagonists, this fact feels awfully mean-spirited. With similar heroes, you can laugh at them but still appreciate that they're well-intentioned. Napoleon, on the other hand, just kind of sucks. Movies are unsatisfying when you can't root for any of the characters, but you don't get much joy from rooting against anyone either. Napoleon is selfish and socially inept, although the antagonist Summer is so shallow and stereotypical that you can't suspend your disbelief enough to truly hate her, and if they're mocking the mean girl trope, there really isn't anything amusing about the portrayal. The sentimental finale is unearned and unfitting, considering the cynical, condescending nature of the film up until that point, and how all of the characters completely disregard other people's feelings. The movie is the opposite of a witty satire, producing cheap laughs with no heart or soul behind it. If you're looking to watch something that tries too hard to be quirky, seems like a collection of random scenes put together, and bases all of its "jokes" on the assumption that you feel superior to the characters, Napoleon Dynamite may be for you. Rey L Apr 11, 2019 4/12/2019 A collective of society misfits defy the odds at school and in life. I had this lingering image of Beavis and Butthead while watching. See more
Anakin R Apr 1, 2019 I found napoleon dynamite as one of the best movies i have ever watched and i loved the drama and the low key humor, i find this movie quite inspirational to all film makers because this movie didnt have a large budget but they made it in the fashion to where it still earned lots of money and gave the audience a laugh. Amazing See more
Draco R Mar 24, 2019 I genuinely love this movie. It's not comedy gold or anything like that but there's just an esthetic about it. It's like that local indie band that you love and noone else has heard of. There's so many funny lines and moments culminating to Nepoleon dancing to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai See more
