Ignacio (Jack Black), or Nacho to his friends, works as a cook in the Mexican monastery where he grew up. The monastery is home to a host of orphans whom Nacho cares for deeply, but there is not much money to feed them properly. Critics Consensus

At times hilarious, but other times offensive, Director Jared Hess is unable to recapture the collective charisma of his Napoleon characters, instead relying on a one-joke concept that runs out of steam. Sure to entertain the adolescents, however.

As in Napoleon Dynamite, there are catchphrases galore, but precious few that stick with you past the theatre parking lot.

Imagine my disappointment then, which grew to disbelief, which turned into utter disdain, by the time the credits rolled on this clunker.

Hess doesn't take it all far enough (the PG rating seems unusually restrictive), especially with the audacity of gags and the frequency of jokes.

Never quite as funny as it threatens to be, but Black's misplaced enthusiasm in the fight-night sequences remains a grotesquely pleasing joy to behold throughout.

Slow-paced and not funny elements accompany a non-intriguing story.

Nothing special and the jokes can come off as rather hit-or-miss but Jack Black's screen presence and a couple of fun wrestling sequences (+ the jokes that do hit) make Nacho Libre a fun time-waster.

Nacho Libre is the best movie I've ever seen. The wrestling scenes are so awesome, the entire idea of this movie is great all the settings, like the monastery, the "wilderness" all have funny scenes. The idea of Steven helping Nacho is super cool and so is this entire movie.
