A woman (Anna Kendrick) comes to a crossroad when she finds out that her new beau (Sam Rockwell) is a professional assassin who kills the people who hire him instead of the intended targets.

Critics Consensus

Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick work well together, but Mr. Right is too much of a tonal jumble to take advantage of their chemistry.

"I wanna do something terrible!" Kendrick announces early in the film, and she at least did that - she did 'Mr. Right.'

While it's supposed to add up to a witty marriage between romance and anarchy, it's so light on moral implications that it's just tacky.

Rockwell and Kendrick are great together, but the movie never quite marries the cute romance and the bloody killings. Most of the time the two leads appear to be on their own in a completely separate movie.

Doesn't get everything right, but in between the quirky trying-too-hard moments are some amiably charming moments.

I love the ridiculous humor in "Mr. Right." Just enough over the top to enjoy it, without losing my attention to the plot, as much as it could never really happen. But who cares, it was super funny.

The action sequences are a little choppy, but the humour is spot-on and rarely fails to get a laugh.

Loved it. A fun and lighthearted romcom. Not raunchy and very cute and sweet.
