Traveling magician Mr. K (Crispin Glover) is down on his luck. Business is slow, and the few gigs he's picked up along the road have left him adrift. After spending the night in a remote hotel, he is alarmed when he discovers that he is unable to find the exit. As he explores the maze-like corridors, he hears strange noises and encounters a series of curious inhabitants who have formed their own factions within the walls of the hotel. Alone and afraid, he starts mapping out the corridors, desperately hoping to get to the bottom of the building's layout before it is too late. Stuck more hopelessly than ever and about to give up, he makes a bizarre discovery that will change everything. Starring the ever-eccentric Crispin Glover, this Kafkaesque mystery offers a bold new take on falling down the rabbit hole.

Mr. K is a species of European art film I had assumed was long extinct: mannered, self-consciously quirky, with an offbeat sense of humor and a visual style that’s both fusty and surreal Go to Full Review

There's not much to 'Mr. K' beyond its second-hand surrealism and strained counter-mythmaking. Go to Full Review

Succeeds as both an homage to Kafka’s fascination with the absurdity of life, and especially with the socio-bureaucratic systems we humans have wrought upon ourselves, and as a sumptuous and surreal feast for the eyes. Go to Full Review

Mr. K is a fever dream of a film; narrative structure and logic are eschewed in favor of a series of vignettes that culminate in a truly — and perfectly — bizarre denouement. Go to Full Review

Mr. K may sound like a daunting cinematic experience. But never fear. All these heady concepts are housed inside a riveting fairy tale world, full of beauty, horror, and humor. A spoonful of surrealism helps the medicine go down. Go to Full Review

Glover is well cast, with the right combination of everyman qualities, clumsy innocence and spiky edge. Go to Full Review
