A loathsome man ends up dead, but it's not clear who's to blame. If ever a person got what he deserved, it's James Urbanski (Bruce Willis), an abusive drunk who steals from his wife, Joyce (Glenne Headly), and promises her close friend Cynthia Kellogg (Demi Moore) that she'll be the next target of his rage. At a group outing, James bleeds to death after someone cuts his throat. But because he's such a terrible human being, police aren't sure which of his acquaintances decided to kill him.

Isham’s score makes the possibility of loving these characters or feeling morally committed to them not only impractical but unthinkable. Go to Full Review

There is another level to Mortal Thoughts than either the guilt or innocence of the characters, or the wit with which Rudolph portrays their world. It is the level on which ordinary people cut themselves loose from ordinary morality. Go to Full Review

With a sanguine base, the film seems to incongruously flirt with comedy, yet both aspects irreconcilably bifurcate. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Leia R Jan 31, 2018 Interesting movie that builds suspense as the story unfolds. The movie didn't gain a whole lot of popularity, but is a hidden gem, especially if you enjoy the murder-mystery genre. See more
Finn L Jan 19, 2018 The opening has Cynthia (Demi Moore) being filmed while questioned by Det. John Woods (Harvey Keitel) and Det. Linda Nealon (Billie Neal) involving a murder of her best friend's husband. See more
Anakin G Jan 4, 2018 A pretty entertaining affair. Elevated due to performances of Willis and Keitel. Definitely worth a watch to see Willis in fine form. I believe He and Demi hooked up on this movie. See more
Hagrid S Jun 6, 2017 I'm not sure why so many people dislike the movie. It's a strict procedural movie and you have to watch it through the tedium of the cops trying to pry the truth out but if you know what you're in for then it becomes a good movie about how a few bad choices turn into a death sentence. Theodore W Sep 12, 2007 Not-half-bad murder-thriller potboiler.
