Best friends Grace (Selena Gomez) and Emma (Katie Cassidy) quit their waitress jobs in small-town Texas and head to Paris for a summer adventure, accompanied by Grace's stepsister, Meg (Leighton Meester). The prepackaged tour fails to meet their expectations, however, and soon their spirits sag. But, when Grace is mistaken for a British socialite named Cordelia, she and her companions head to Monte Carlo to enjoy a week of yacht parties and cute bachelors -- then the real Cordelia arrives.

Critics Consensus

Although it has its charming moments, Monte Carlo is mostly silly, predictable stuff that never pushes beyond the boundaries of formula.

A dull fantasy-farce of luxe hotel suites, hot guys and product-placement jewellery, a pretty unappetising mix that the film tries to justify at the end with some blather about Romanian orphanages.

It's all frothy and silly, but Selena Gomez and her co-stars are sweet and appealing and are sure to win over the film's target audience.

I think people are way too critical in life. This movie is what it is. A feel-good, pass-time comedy with some beautiful moments. Nothing groundbreaking but definitely not horrible. It's a good film. Films are made to experience and I experienced it well without being critical of how simple the plot was. I knew how it would end, still enjoyed it. If there weren't films like these, life would be too serious. I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a lazy weekend at home or having a sleepover with your girls.

Monte Carlo is a disappointing film. It is about three young women vacationing in Paris who find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress. Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester give horrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. Thomas Bezucha did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.
